What Is the Tree of Life in Revelation 22:2? Understanding the Healing of the Nations

My monthly blog is designed to answer any question, or comment that I receive by email or through the web site. This month - April - I am answering a question that was posed to me by a member of the Whitebeam Christian Fellowship in Bristol.

Question. What does it mean “Tree of Life whose leaves are for the healing of the nations”?

Revelation 22 v 2 speaks of the “Tree of Life whose leaves are for the healing of the nations”

This is a symbolic picture of the new beginning. The New Jerusalem, and the New Heaven and Earth, and the new Paradise that Jesus referred to when He told the dying thief who had repented, that “today you will be with me in Paradise”.

It’s interesting that the old Garden of Eden was cursed by sin, and the Hebrew word for Paradise is ‘Gan Eden’. So the old tree and it’s leaves were cursed and died, but in Paradise the new Tree of Life symbolises the new beginning and the leaves representing healing to the nations.
